Equip Our Kids

Equip Our Kids

During the pandemic with a little extra time on our hands, my writing partner and I stepped up to volunteer with pro bono agency The Art of Good for Equip Our Kids, a non-profit that advocates for emotional intelligence to be taught in schools. Emotional intelligence, the ability to deal with ourselves and others in a healthy way, is a crucial skill for all of us to master, especially now as we weather this coronavirus storm.

We overhauled the brand around the concept of “at our core,” the very idea that emotional intelligence should be taught as part of every school’s core curriculum because once a child has developed a strong core, they’re able to handle whatever obstacles come their way.

rebranding

With several different logos and names in use, Equip Our Kids needed a brand overhaul. We streamlined things by redesigning the logo, using only one name, and developing an overall visual identity.

Here’s the old logo for reference. It was very important that we kept the heart element in the new design.

At Our Core concept development + Illustrations

Seeking inspiration from things with cores (apples, eggs, and avocados), we were able to simplify the organization’s branding and messaging to make it easier for busy parents to understand, while also appealing to kids. From the look and feel to the website to the social media to the national PSA (in progress), this concept ties everything together.
